As you can see we're just getting started here in Parkersburg (Wood County) West Virginia in joining wholeheartedly into the Thirteenth Annual U.S. 50 Yard Sale that runs from Coast to Coast in creating it's very only blog for our area to help it grow bigger now with each successive year.

The main website for this annual event is here:
U.S. 50 Yard Sale

This event always occurs the weekend before Memorial Weekend. And that is still yet one month and 27 days away which means there is still plenty of time for anyone interested to plan to participate.

So this first blog post is an appeal to everyone in the county and surrounding counties and even in neighboring Ohio to get with me to help organize a wonderful sale. Churches and other organizations are welcome and encouraged to participate. This is a great opportunity for your fundraising needs. Businesses too are welcome. The goal of this sale is to put U.S. 50 on the map as a great road to travel and see the heartland of the United States. To encourage folks to get out on the road and see the sights we have to offer them.

I need all the volunteers I can get to help SPREAD THE WORD, to secure locations along the route for sellers to set up and preferably central locations for many to set up in one spot. Having participated in the annual World's Longest Yard Sale that runs north and south through Tennessee and other states along Rt 127 for many years it is my hearts desire to see this Coast to Coast US 50 Sale become just as renowned. For it to grow here locally to the point where people plan their vacations around it, charter buses to travel and shop through it and even come from around the world to see what they can find to take home.

We welcome video recordings of what you see wherever you do set up here as well as photographs. We welcome the media to get involved and the Chamber of Commerce and the committees to promote tourism. Call me :)

That's all I have to share right now. It's your turn to do something. Check back here daily for new developments and please please contact me or comment here with any ideas, help, offers that you have to get this ball rolling.

Thanks so much!
